ENSUITE BATHROOM MAKEOVER | BEFORE & AFTER

We moved into our home just over three years ago and couldn't wait to have a main and ensuite bathroom. However, because it was a new build we opted to leave the bathrooms as they were but over time I started to long for an ensuite that made me feel relaxed and excited to unwind in. So we decided to rip it all out and start again! I'd never thought of having a black and green ensuite until we spoke to Gemma from Balance Interior Designs and now I couldn't imagine having anything else! It's such a relaxing but inviting space to wake up to.

Fitters: The hardest part of creating our ensuite was finding someone who could start and finish the entire project for us but thanks to Facebook we came across William and his team from Thermal Plumbing and Heating Limited.  My tip when choosing the right team for you is to check Facebook and Google reviews, invite a couple of different companies around, give them an idea of your budget and ask them to send you a proposal for you to look over. As much as we wanted the job done as soon as possible, a rule of thumb is not to choose someone who is available the next day, a 4 to 8 month lead time is very common. Will and his team worked tirelessly to get our bathrooms done, they kept the house clean and even tried to be quiet when Jax was asleep, we cannot recommend them enough!

Tiles: We had so much fun picking out the right tiles for the room, there are so many designs, shapes and colours out there! We opted for these beautiful rustic green Chesham tiles from Victorian Plumbing for the walls and these stunning Pod Mono Porcelain hexagon tiles from Mandarin Stone for the floor.

We actually found most of the items for both bathrooms on the Victorian Plumbing website, everything arrived quickly and their customer service team was extremely helpful in making sure the items we were choosing would work for the space. Previously our shower was quite small and a nightmare to clean so we were super excited to fit this beautiful glass shower as well as black accessories.

Storage: The main reason for decorating our ensuite was due to the lack of storage. No matter how hard you try beauty products and life essentials soon add up and new build homes rarely have anywhere to store them. Both bathrooms were an awkward size and shape which made it really hard to find cupboards that would work. Until we found this mirrored Ikea cabinet which was the perfect slim unit to fit between the toilet and shower and gave us so much space for bathroom products. I had always wanted a basin cabinet and loved how stylish this one from Lusso Stone looked. The quality and finish of this basin is so beautiful and gets so many compliments!

Accessories: I'm not one to spend hours in the mirror but it's been so lovely to be able to finally get ready or finish my day with this beautiful mirror from Nordic Nest. The bath mat and bathrobes are from H&M home and the black bin, toilet brush and toilet roll holder is from Amazon.

Design: I was so unsure what to do with this bathroom and am so happy we asked Gemma from Balance Interior Design to help us transform our space. If you're ever unsure how to get the most from a room she is fantastic and offers honest, creative advice.
