FAMILY BATHROOM MAKEOVER | BEFORE & AFTER

There's something about having a baby that makes you realise just how special a bathroom can be. Every night we would turn the lights down low, fill up the bath with bubbles, pop on her playlist and start our little evening bedtime routine for Jax. The only issue was, we hated our main bathroom, it was bright, sterile and had zero storage which made it so difficult to create a safe calming space for our family. I hope you enjoy the before and after photos as much as we enjoyed making the change!

Fitters: By far the hardest part of creating our perfect family bathroom was finding someone who could start and finish the entire project for us but thanks to Facebook we came across William and his team from Thermal Plumbing and Heating Limited.  My tip when choosing the right team for you is to check Facebook and Google reviews, invite a couple of different companies around, give them an idea of your budget and ask them to send you a proposal for you to look over. As much as we wanted the job done as soon as possible, a rule of thumb is not to choose someone who is available the next day, a 4 to 8 month lead time is very common. Will and his team worked tirelessly to get our bathrooms done, they kept the house clean and even tried to be quiet when Jax was asleep, we cannot recommend them more!

Lighting: One of the biggest changes to our bathroom was the lighting. Previously there was one main light and against the typical magnolia colour, it made the room seem dark and was the most unflattering tone. We opted for three spotlights and this beautiful brass pendant, meaning that we could have the full lights on or make it a cosy and relaxing space for the end of the day.

Tiles:We swapped out the awful floor for these beautiful maison chic tiles and decided to mix them with these stunning white chevron tiles from Victorian Plumbing that I had been lusting over on Pinterest! I couldn't wait for them to be fitted and YES they took far longer to fit than we ever imagined but they were worth the wait!

Storage: This bathroom had the least storage out of the entire house and we had so many baby bits and toiletries to hide so we had a little splurge and invested in this stunning basin cabinet vanity unit and wall hung cabinet from Lusso Stone. The quality of both of these items is incredible, they get so many compliments and give the room such a luxurious feel!

Accessories: We had so much fun finding all the little bits that make a room more homely. We found most of our items from H&M home and then added this beautiful circular brass mirror, candles from Rituals and black accessories from Amazon.

Design: I was so unsure what to do with this bathroom and am so happy we asked Gemma from Balance Interior Design to help us transform our space, if you're ever unsure how to get the most from a room she is fantastic and offers honest, creative advice.
